Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) at TMP College

Guidance for Students and Parents

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in education and creative industries. At TMP College, we want students to use AI responsibly, safely, and in ways that support their learning, not replace it.

AI can support the learning process by helping students:

• Generate ideas or starting points
• Clarify topics or get explanations
• Improve early drafts
• Explore creative options

However, final work must always show the student’s own thinking and creativity.

Students must not use AI to produce work and submit it as their own. This includes:

• Copying AI‑generated essays or scripts
• Submitting AI‑generated artwork, designs, music, photos, or videos
• Using AI to produce entire assignments
• Hiding or disguising AI use

Submitting AI‑generated work without proper involvement is considered academic misconduct.

If students choose to use AI, they must:

• Keep a brief record of the prompts they used
• Be able to explain how AI supported their thinking
• Reference AI involvement when required

This maintains transparency and helps teachers understand a student’s real learning process.

UAL guidance highlights that while AI brings exciting possibilities, it also raises concerns around:

• Originality and fairness
• Avoiding over‑reliance on automated tools
• Reducing bias and misinformation
• Understanding environmental and social impacts

TMP College is committed to developing students’ genuine creativity, critical thinking, and subject knowledge.

Teachers will clearly explain:

• When AI can or cannot be used in each subject
• What is expected for classwork and assessments
• How to use AI appropriately

Some assessments will not allow AI at all, especially when key skills need to be demonstrated without digital assistance.

You can help by:

• Encouraging your child to use AI as a tool—not a shortcut
• Asking them to explain their ideas in their own words
• Supporting good study habits and independent thinking
